Where we survey
We arrange school roof surveys UK wide. Every area page carries the modelled yield for that latitude, the share of that town's generating year that falls in the summer holiday, the distribution network operator that handles the connection, and the school and college solar schemes already on the public planning record nearby. 371 towns across 48 counties.

What every area page tells you
A school's electricity demand collapses in the weeks its roof generates hardest. Between 24.9 and 26.5 percent of the modelled year lands in July and August depending on where in the country the building stands, and the summer holiday takes roughly six weeks out of the middle of that. Each town page states its own figure rather than a national average, because the number a governing body needs is the one for its own roof.
Where the planning record holds a school or college scheme nearby, the page names it, gives the size applied for and says how far the application got. Those are other organisations' planning records, not our projects, and every page says so. They are worth reading because a consented array at a school a few miles away is better evidence of what a local authority and a network operator will accept than any national figure.

The spread between the best and worst town on this map is 324 kWh per kWp, which is about 46 percent. On a 500 kWp array that is roughly 162,000 kWh a year of difference for the same money spent.
